MasterCraft announced that it has earned the Best Marine Site Overall at the annual North American Marine Industry Web Award presentation sponsored by NMMA and boats.com. The awards are designed to recognize companies that lead the North American marine industry's drive towards higher standards of excellence in website design and content.

“The web is obviously playing an exponentially larger role in window shopping and final retail demand, even with items like cars and boats” says Phil Walker, e-Business Manager at MasterCraft. “As a result, we had to move Mastercraft.com to more than just a branding piece – it is now a destination. Steel Lafferty - Master of Disaster Craft

Check out Steel Lafferty’s brand spanking new X-Star. A complete collaborative effort by the big boys in the business that saw Mastercraft providing the canvas, Nike 6.0 the color pallette, System AVD brought out the innovative design know-how, and Steel added his own style and personality throughout.

Here’s what System AVD Inc.’s Josh Sirlin had to say about teaming up with Steel to create a boat wrap uniquely Lafferty:

“The process was a lot of fun… We’re stoked to be working with Nike 6.0; during a quick stop-by meeting at 6.0 Headquarters we heard that Steel was in need of a wrap for his Mastercraft X-Star. A few days later I got on a call with Chip (Steel’s dad), and Steel; we just chatted about possibilities and what we could do. We started digging into what Steel likes and what stuff represents him. From there we developed an overall theme for the design, stuff that would look killer and would represent Steel and 6.0. With the design concept set, I got graphic artist Troy White started on illustrating and going to town on all the intense graphic details. We went through a few comps and soon everyone was stoked. Chip and Steel got with their local MasterCraft dealer in Ft. Lauderdale and ordered the best wakeboard boat and medium for us to work on, an all black X-Star. From there it was all about preparing the artwork so it will look perfect on the X-Star which is a science. I love the combo of this season’s colors. We’ve done a lot of MasterCraft boats…We’ve got an unbelievable team and it shows in the end result of Steel’s boat.”“Josh, the wrap design is incredible, the installation is flawless. It has been great fun working with you for sure!” -Chip Lafferty.

When asked what’s next for AVD Josh responded “I absolutely love this boat…it’s my style…we’re in the concept stage for my 2008 boat and its inspiration is Steel’s boat, but it will be hard to top.”

New "Push Process" Film Opens To Packed House

On November 10, a massive group of wake sport fans arrived at the Oakley headquarters in southern California to view the most anticipated wake movie in years, Push Process, sponsored by Oakley, MasterCraft, CWB and Alliance. Click here to see trailer:

Although the buzz and chatter was around this truly epic wakeboard movie, the night was also jammed full of other incredible entertainment, including DJ’s, autograph signings, on-site events and a VIP reception for the riders and their families.

However at 9 p.m. the lights went dim, the sound went to 11 and the action on the screen bedazzled the viewers for nearly an hour. Push Process, under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Justin Stephens and graphic artist Chase Heavener, combines experimental cinematography, editing and animation graphics with the most progressive riding ever documented on the big screen. Shot exclusively in HD, Push Process took its “premiere” viewers on a quest to Australia, South Africa, the Florida Keys, Cuba, Minnesota, the Amazon, Canada and beyond.

New to the screen was also the role of the riders. Director Stephens moved them beyond spectacle to production crew. “Oakley athletes Keith Lyman, Aaron Rathy, Andrew Adkison, Amber Wing, George Daniels, Danny Hampson, Dallas Friday and Jack Blodgett are more than just the stars who create the epic footage” says Stephens. “They are members of the production team and all of them played pivotal roles in the project since day one.”

Although the theatre is empty with only the clean up left to do, those interested in seeing the film will have their opportunity. MasterCraft dealers across the country are in the planning stages right now to do their own local viewing of this incredible film over the next several months. MasterCraft X-Series

When it comes to getting the best wake on the water, the X-Series from MasterCraft delivers.

In the mid 90's, MasterCraft took the leadership role in the growth of wakeboarding by releasing the X-Star, the first true wakeboard boat, when water skiing was driving the industry. The reaction? "They've lost their minds to pursue a 'fad.'" In 2003, MasterCraft decided the replace the best-selling wakeboard boat in history and introduced a completely new X-Star, with the unique pickle-fork look and a wake the size of which nobody had ever ridden. The response? We were crazy to be that bold. Fast forward to 2006, where the X-2 takes it rightful place next to the X-Star as wakeboarding's new, smaller superhero - a 20-foot wake machine that will once again have the pundits scratching their heads. Only this time, they'll wonder how MasterCraft did it again.

The X-2 stays ahead of the curve thanks to its familiar SuperFly bow design, which opens up the front for more people, and gives it a styling edge. Inside, a 94-inch wide interior provides as much room as a 21-footer, comfortably seating seven. Underneath is where the magic happens, however. By incorporating a modified step hull, the multi-faceted X-2 is a wake maker and a single ski magnet. Below 24 mph, the stern sits in deep, cleaving a smooth transition that elevates to a tight lip - perfect for long launches into the flats. Drop down to 11 mph, and wake surf wakes are high, tight and clean. For beefier water, add 650 pounds of factory ballast with the flip of a switch. At speeds above 26 mph, the stepped hull gets up and out of the way, leaving behind a trail of bubbles that's delightful to edge a slalom ski through.

"The initial indicators tell us that the X-2 will quickly become our best-selling model," says Parker Stair, MasterCraft's national sales manager. "This boat has been seen on the Internet and at dealerships and made its debut at the WWA Wakeboard Nationals, creating a buzz eerily similar to the 2003 X-Star. In fact, the demand is so high we have already created more molds to meet the wholesale production needs of our dealer network."

At exactly 20 feet, the 3200-pound X-2 utilizes every square inch of onboard space, featuring clean underseat and sundeck storage compartments that will hold 70 cubic feet of anything you can carry on. Because the X-2 makes storage space a premium, there's no loss for seating. Aside from the SuperFly bow, the X-2 comes complete on the inside, featuring a full wraparound seating compartment that envelopes, but doesn't compromise. This little 20-footer plays big - it seats 11.

Behind the windshield MasterCraft's X-Pod inspired modular dash display and billet cockpit appointments give drivers a perfect vantage point. By adding aircraft-style top lit toggle switches, quick-view ballast gauges, and a diamond-shaped oversized urethane glove box, we've truly put the "command" in Driver's Command Center. Add in the second-generation Digital Throttle Control (DTC), and being behind the wheel might become as thrilling as being behind the boat.

From above, the X-2 sports the latest generation of ZeroFlex Flyer tower, giving a sturdy pull point for riders whether they're working on surface turns or moves way out into the flats. It's functional, too; board racks are standard, making it easy to store all your boarding equipment. Adding the optional JL Audio speaker cans and lights is guaranteed to liven up any session.

In back, riders have plenty of room to get in and out of bindings thanks to an oversized boarding platform, stylishly accentuated by the X-2s matching diamond shaped transom, proving that that the riding is not the only thing that will be looking good behind the all-new X-2.
